COUNCIL of ENGINEERING AND SCIENTIFIC SPECIALTY BOARDS

The CESB is a national organization that accredits certification organizations such as ABCEP. ABCEP joined the CESB in 2003.

Beginning in January 2009, ABCEP has participated in a Working Group consisting of three Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB)-accredited credentialing organizations and the Rochester Institute of Technology's Environmental Management Leadership Initiative discussing credentialing environmental professionals. The working group has held countless conference calls, conducted a survey that invited 9500 environmental professionals to voice his/her opinion, participated in a symposium hosted by RIT, and continue to advance these efforts with the goal of increasing the recognition of credentialed environmental professionals within Federal and State agencies, etc., including improving the definition of the environmental professional within an idled ASTM Standards E1929.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of ENVIRONMENTAL PROFESSIONALS

The Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) credential was born by forward-thinking members of the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) in 1979. In time, subsequent CEPs and the leadership of NAEP identified that the credential best served the profession under a separate business structure and separate leadership.

The founding history between NAEP and ABCEP continues to prove a strong partnership between the two organizations. Some of the highlights of this relationship include:
  • ABCEP provides a delegate to the NAEP Board of Directors
  • NAEP provides a delegate to the ABCEP Board of Trustees.
  • Regularly publish joint news releases and cooperative marketing.
  • Reduced CEP application fee offered at NAEP conferences.
  • NAEP financial donation to ABCEP outreach.
